This past year college campuses across the nation have been rocked with protest over disregarded racism. It began with a series of threatening and racist incidents at University of Missouri. The inaction of their school president, Tim Wolfe, and lack of support from the administration compelled many students to protest on campus until Wolfe and their chancellor stepped down. These protests have spilled over onto other campuses. Many students across the country are now calling for increased awareness and action against racism that has persisted for decades and often flies under the radar in college environments.

Recently students and administration at Colorado College have taken initiative to combat racism and call awareness to microaggressions that many minority students experience. The school began their race and diversity initiative by calling a mandatory school wide assembly in Reid Arena on Nov. 16th, the First Monday of fourth block. This was in response to a series of racist posts made on the anonymous social media app, YikYak, the previous week in block three.
